                           Teaching on Tibetan Buddhism

The Seven Branch Offering

Tibetan Buddhism is about discovering the true nature of mind that has been obscured from our awareness by the habitual ways in which we use our mind. This practice has 7 fundamental aspects that refine and purify the mind. Khenpo Norgey will explain the 7 aspects of this profound practice.

Avalokitesvara in the Six Realms

An explanation of a practice involving the generation of compassion through meditation on the suffering experienced by beings in the 6 realms of cyclic existence. *Prerequisite Required

Chöd

The practice and meaning of Chöd. Khenpo Norgey will explain a practice which involves offering what we cherish the most, our own bodies. This is a method to eradicate arrogance and cut through the belief in a self which is the root of all ignorance and deluded perception. *Prerequisite Required

Twelve Dependent Originations

The principle of dependant arising sheds light on our past, present, future, and Karma. This teaching will explain this as a cycle of 12 links.

Dana: The teachings are considered priceless, and the teachers offer them freely. It is traditional to make an offering at the conclusion of the teaching. A white scarf (kata) with a dana (generosity) is usually presented to the Rinpoche. The suggested donation is used to help defray the cost of bringing the Rinpoche to Virginia and the operational expenses incurred for maintaining the center.

We are seeking sponsors to help us build a Buddhist College, if you are interested, please contact us. If you like to make a donation towards building fund, please make check payable to Longchenpa Institute Building Funds. Thank you!
